A Preview of the 3 INQ Chat 3G
The 3 INQ Chat 3G, originally released in December 2009, was one of the first mobile phones to have social networking at its forefront, boasting Facebook, Twitter and Skype applications. You'll also find Windows Live Messenger pre-installed too, which could save you a fortune on text messages.
On the spec-front, the INQ-made handset packs a BlackBerry-style portrait QWERTY keyboard, married with a 320 x 240 non-touch display. These features, coupled with the onboard directional key and shortcut buttons, make for an all-round easy to use mobile phone, and ideal for those planning on using email and networking apps.
The home screen, like Android, allows you to arrange your favourite and most-used widgets, which can mean having Facebook notifications are your primary focus, or the latest weather reports on the main home screen. This personalisation is taken a step further with the handset's customizable battery covers, making this an excellent choice for fashion-conscious teens.
Although video-calling is one of the handset's main unique selling-points, you won't find a front-facing webcam on the Chat 3G, simply a 3.15 megapixel rear-facing shooter. This, as you'd expect, can be quite awkward for making Skype calls, although it does manage to produce some reasonable looking snapshots.
Other handy features include; an included media player, HSDPA connectivity, up to 4GB of expandable memory and a decent 1150mAh battery.
A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
