Acer Allegro

A Preview of the Acer Allegro

10th November 2011

With its curvaceous casing and chunky build. the Allegro may look reminiscent of Acer's Android-powered Liquid Mini. However, it's in fact the company's first phone to run Mango OS - the most up-to-date version of Windows Phone 7.

With Mango - officially known as Windows Phone 7.5 - onboard, the phone will come boasting "over 500 new features". These include Twitter and LinkedIn integration, multitasking, voice-to-test SMS, Internet Explorer 9 and voice-guided GPS.

On the hardware front, the Acer Allegro packs a 1GHz single-core processor, powering its 3.6-inch WVGA (480 x 800) touchscreen. This, of course, comes dressed in Microsoft's Live Tile interface, offering one-touch access to Facebook, Office and Xbox Live gaming.

The handset boasts more than gaming when it comes to media, as it touts a 5 megapixel autofocus camera, complete with LED flash and 720p HD video. Photos and video can be fired off wirelessly to your HDTV too, thanks to the inclusion of DLNA tech.

Other confirmed specifications include; HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, 8GB of built-in memory (with microSD expansion up to 32GB) and a 1300mAh battery.

Once released in the UK on December 1, the Acer Allegro will be available to buy in both Black and White flavours.

A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
