A Preview of the Alcatel 800
The Alcatel 800, known formally as the Alcatel One-Touch 800 Tribe, was launched in July 2009, as the budget phone-maker's first handset to feature a full QWERTY keypad.
Acting as an affordable alternative to a BlackBerry handset, the OT-800 boasts a four-row portrait QWERTY keyboard and a 2.2-inch 240 x 320 colour display. These features come paired with an onboard scroll wheel, offering easy navigation around the basic user interface.
Available in Green, Grey, Pink, Red and Blue, the 13.9mm-thick handset is also home to onscreen widgets, which include a media player, email app and onboard Instant Messenger. You can use this IM service to share photos captured on the phone's 2 megapixel primary camera, which can also be shared using the onboard Bluetooth.
Other noteworthy features include; 20MB of internal memory expandable to 4GB via microSD, GPRS and EDGE connectivity, a stereo FM radio with RDS and a long-lasting 850mAh battery.
A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
