The iPhone 3G S may not look much different to the iPhone 3G, but it's faster, has a better camera, and offers up to 32GB of onboard memory
Editor's Review of the iPhone 3G S
The iPhone 3GS is a compact addition to Apple's smartphone range, measuring in at 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3 and weighing just 135g. It's available in either Classic White or Chic Black casing, which houses the handset's 3.5inch capacitive touchscreen, which is extremely responsive. As well as a vibrant image, the touchscreen also offers a virtual QWERTY keypad, which makes messaging quick and easy.
This handset works comes equipped with iOS 2.0, and an interface filled with menu icons, which you can easily customize. One of the pre-installed widgets is Safari, an easy to use HTML browser that makes surfing the web a breeze, and is of course boosted by the handset's 3G and WiFi connectivity.
The iPhone 3G S is a great for those of you who love to communicate, as it unsurpringly supports SMS, MMS and multiple email accounts. Although not pre-installed, social networking widgets can be download from the iTunes store, providing instant access to site such as Facebook, Twitter and Myspace.
As you would expect, the 3G S also comes equipped with plenty of tools to keep you organized, including an address book, calender, notepad and alarm clock. It also offers GPS powered by Google Maps, which operates quickly thanks to the handset's connectivity.
The handset is great for entertainment too, as it also boasts a 3 megapixel camera, complete with autofocus, touch focus and geotagging. It is also capable of recording video footage at 30 frames per second, with the large display acting as the perfect viewfinder. Images and photos can be easily shared with friends and family, through email, social networking or USB connection.
One of the best features of the iPhone 3GS is its integrated iPod, allowing users to listen to MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF files while on the move. It's also visually impressive with its album cover interface, which can also display the song title, artist and even the songs lyrics.
Music-digging users will also appreciate this handset's iPod-styled sound support. It comes with a built-in iPod music player that allows users to listen to MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF and Apple Lossless audio formats. As bonus features, this audio player displays information on the title, artist and album of the tracks that users are listening to.
Although it doesn't offer pre-installed games, its hard to complain when you're provided with access to thousands of apps from the Apple iTunes Store. Once you've equipped your handset with Angry Birds, you'll never be bored again.
Depending on how much you're willing to spend, the iPhone 3Gs is available in 8, 16 and 32GB models, although memory cannot be expanded via microSD. However, no matter which model you pick, you should never worry about running out of storage.
Rounded off with an impressive 12 hours of talk time and 300 hours of standy time, the handset boasts a pretty impressive battery life. However, this can be ran down quite quickly if you get caught up in playing on apps and listening to music.

It is a good all round phone and is quick to respond with a good screen. I do not like how apple keeps a tight hold on what you do with it weather it is is moving photos or music or changing your ring tone you have to used i tunes which is a pain if you move around a lot.
The iPhone 3GS is a great phone but the recent release of the iPhone 4 has superceded it. Having used every iPhone so far the 4 is a big step forward. If the 4 is out of your reach than the 3GS is a great option.
All things considered, it pains me to say that the iPhone is probably still the best smartphone around. Its pains me because it is expensive, performs poorly as an actual phone and has a terrible battery.
I have to charge my phone every day without fail, I have no way to expand the storage (without buying a new phone) and worst of all I am laboured with using iTunes on a PC to manage Apps / Music / Pictures / etc.
However, despite all these flaws, the iPhone truely excells in certain areas... The screen is sublime and (until very recently) has been unmatched by Android phones in terms of responsiveness and resolution.
It is the App Store which really stands as the feather in the iPhone cap though; and it is in this area that you really derive the value from having an iPhone. When you compare Android apps to those available on the iPhone, everything looks like the budget version: with fewer features and less polish. Apps make finding the information you want very simple and as such you will find yourself using the apps as a primary resource. For that reason alone, you will probably want to pick the phone with the best apps - the iPhone.
Nb. Its worth noting that many of the flaws with the iPhone are present in other leading smartphones (battery life, etc) however that does not exclude Apple from responsibility.
This version of the iphone adds an improved camera and better processor. All the things that made the first 2 Iphones so good are still here with added improvements. Maybe hard to recommend if you already have the 3g, but impossible not to recommend to a first time iphone owner.
I think this phone is barred way to much. I rarely receive calls on my phone for some odd reason even though I have good signal strength then I get random voice mails two hours later. Doing tasks such as voice control freeze the phone and require a hard reset. Getting a phone call while listening to music freezes the phone as well. This thing is junk.
Great phone for people on the go 24-7. Plus able to fit in trouser pockets.
