A Preview of the Apple iPhone 5
The iPhone 5, as confusing as it may sound, will be Apple's sixth-generation smartphone offering. Of course, we don't know much about the handset just yet, but that hasn't stopped online speculation already heating up.
According to the rumours, the iPhone 5 will feature a completely reworked casing, complete an iPad-style silver back panel and a thinner design. This will supposedly house the phone's larger 4-inch Retina Display made from Sharp's p-Si LCD. This, if indeed featured on the next-gen iPhone, will be lighter and thinner than Apple's previous touchscreen offerings, and could equip the handset with a much-needed battery boost.
The rumour mill has also claimed that the iPhone 5 will come with inductive charging support. This would mean that you would no longer have to charge the handset using those elusive white cables, and could instead use a device similar to HP's TouchStone.
Other specifications we can expect from the Apple iPhone 5 include; improved front and rear-facing cameras, 1080p HD video smarts, Siri, NFC integration, 4G connectivity in the US, and the next iteration of Apple's mobile software - iOS 6.
The Apple iPhone 5 is expected to get official in autumn 2012.
A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
