A Preview of the BlackBerry 8100
The BlackBerry Pearl 8100 was a handset of firsts for Research In Motion; boasting the first camera to be found on a BlackBerry handset, and acting as the firm's first mobile with microSD memory expansion.
Of course, that's not all the handset has got going for it. The 8100 may look like a candy bar phone, but it manages to squeeze in a full portrait QWERTY keypad alongside a 2.2-inch (240 x 260) colour display. This, paired with the onboard navigation key, offers easy access to the phone's main features, which include an email client, Instant Messenger, media player and document viewer.
The phone, which runs RIM's typical BlackBerry software, also features a 312MHz Intel XScale processor, an onboard web browser, GPRS and EDGE connectivity, a 1.3 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 900mAh battery. You'll also find SureType keyboard technology included, which promises quick and accurate typing and dialling.
A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
