I got the purple Blackberry 8520 for Christmas and its great! I only use a phone for texting really, but since getting this one I've been able to check my emails and go on Facebook straight from my phone. I have also put all of my music on it which means I no longer have to use my ipod too. Great phone!! 5 stars!

The Blackberry Curve 8520 is an interesting phone. It is interesting because it is bringing the smart-phone market into a much wider audience because this phone is both suitable for teenagers and adults alike! The phone works moderately quickly but does have moments where it slows down dramatically and requires a full reboot. Sometimes it also turns to a white screen of death in which it stops working. The phone comes with a good quality pair of headphones which produce a good quality sound. However, overall, this phone is cheap, easy-to-use and very multi-functional and its only drawbacks are software freezes and lack of 3G.

The Blackberry Curve 8520 works well for business applications, but if you are wanting to be more connected with friends and social networks I suggest an Android based phone.

An entry-level BlackBerry Curve, with a new-fangled Trackpad to replace the annoying trackball on previous Curve models. The 8520 offers a full QWERTY keyboard, mobile e-mail, a basic camera and a media player, plus good memory and connectivity. But it cuts corners with the display, camera and lack of high-end features that are common in many smartphones. Good for the money.

The Blackberry Curve 8520 is certainly faster than its predicessors, but as with most reviews it faces in the new smart phone world it is inhibited by its 'great-for-email' OS. Even with OS5 it still lacks the customization that may in the now app-driven community desire. Even with the paid apps, the user is apt to be left wanting. With Android and iTunes, posting apps with little or no cost what-so-ever, it is hard to see how Blackberry will keep up with the desire for so many users wanting to give their phones that 'œpersonalized' feel. While no question Blackberry poses the security that many corporations desire, Android has posted some promising challenges to the RIM operating system.

Overall the phone is ok. It's very hard to understand at first but once read the manual it's easier to get the hang of. It's got a nice stylish look and comes in various colors. The BBM is really the heart of the phone and what makes it a good phone; however there are many other applications which are really interesting and fun to use. However the phone is quite slow and doesn't have touch screen. Overall the blackberry 8520 is a good phone which is popular in today's market.
