HTC's debut '3D phone' looks set to take on the LG Optimus 3D with its 4.3-inch 'naked-eye' screen and dual 5MP cameras
A Preview of the HTC EVO 3D
It arrives sporting similar specs to its US counterpart, and rocks an equally-speedy 1.2GHz dual-core processor, despite measuring in at just 126 x 65 x 12.05mm. Within its skinny casing sits its eye-popping 4.3-inch 'naked-eye' qHD 3D touchscreen, enabling you to view true three-dimensional content while on-the-go.
The excitement doesn't stop there, either. The EVO 3D arrives sporting with dual 5 megapixel rear-facing cameras, coupled with a powerful dual-LED flash. According to HTC, these sterereoscopic cameras are capable of capruing 2D and 3D stills and video at up to 720p HD resolution, which can be viewed back on your 3D thanks to the handset's HDMI output.
It's not all about three-dimensional smarts, as with Android 2.3.4 onboard, the HTC EVO 3D promises to deliver as a high-end smarts. It's Sensation-sized touchscreen comes dressed in the latest version of HTC Sense too, equipping the handset with social networking integration, HTC's all-new active lockscreen, and new full-screen 3D animations.
With Gingerbread onboard, the handset also arrives sporting a front-facing camera, weighing in at 1.3 megapixels. There's also the usual pre-loaded widgets, including Google Search, Google Talk, GPS powered by Google Maps and access to the Android Market.
Other specs include HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0, up to 32GB of storage via microSD, and a hefty 1730mAh battery promising over 7 hours of constant talk-time on a single juice.
The highly-specced HTC EVO 3D will be landing in the UK in July, although it's pricing and exact release date is still to be confirmed.
A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
