A Preview of the Huawei Ascend P1 S
The Huawei Ascend P1 S, which was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, is the world's skinniest smartphone at a wafer-thin 6.68mm thick.
You may think that its slender frame means Huawei will have had to cut back on specs, but thankfully, that isn't the case. Under the hood of the Ascend P1 S sits a powerful 1.5GHzs dual-core TI OMAP 4460 Cortext-A9 processor, alongside the most up-to-date version of Google's OS: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This, paired with Huawei's own custom overlay, equips the phone with the usual array of pre-loaded features, including; a pull-down notifications menu, multiple homescreens, social networking apps and the Android Market. You'll be able to access these features via the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, which boasts a 540 x 960 qHD resolution.
On the media side of things, the svelte Ascend P1 S manages to squeeze in an impressive 8 megapixel BSI camera with 1080p HD video smarts and HDR effect optimisation. This is coupled with a 1.3 megapixel videocall camera, which can also be used for unlocking the smartphone thank's to Android's new Face Unlock functionality.
Although it's full feature set is still to be confirmed, we already know that the Huawei Ascend P1 S will also tout Bluetooth, Dolby Sound, HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, up to 32GB of expandable storage and a 1800mAh battery.
The Huawei Ascend P1 S is expected to reach the UK in April 2012, although pricing details are still to be confirmed.
