Editor's Review of the Renoir
Appearance-wise, the LG Renoir looks stylish and sophisticated, slightly resembling its KU990 Viewty sibling. Within its glossy casing is a 3 inch TFT resistive touchscreen, boasting a 260 x 400 pixel resolution and display of 262,000 colours. Measuring in at 107.8 x 55.9 x 14mm it's not the smallest of mobile's, but with a weight of 114g, it should fit comfortably in your pocket.
The proprietary LG Flash UI is a fun and friendly interface, although due to the resistive touchscreen, it can often be a little unresponsive. Still, with bags of features and plenty of customization tools, it should manage to keep you entertained. The interface is also capable of displaying live content, including social networking notifications and weather updates.
The LG Renoir boasts high-speed internet connectivity, offering HSDPA speeds of 7.2Mbps, and built-in WiFi support. The handset comes equipped with an integrated HTML browser, that copes well with the connectivity, and renders pages well on the 3 inch display.
Most impressively, the KC910 boasts an 8 megapixel camera, which can also double up as a video recorder. The snapper comes equipped with both auto and manual focus, Xenon flash, smile detection and Schneider Kreuznach optics, which are features worthy of a high-end digital camera. Thanks to its Xenon flash, the camera copes well in the poorest of lighting, although any imperfections can be removed with the Renoir's Beauty Shot editing tools. Video settings may also be adjusted on the camera for better video outputs. The handset also supports playback of videos in MPEG4 and DivX formats.
The LG KC910 also manages to please music lovers, thanks to its integrated Dolby Mobile music player complete with enhanced music settings and bass boost. in music player supports digital audio formats like WMA, MP3, AAC++, AAC+ and AAC, and also features an integrated radio that allows users to tune in to their favourite FM stations.
Like it's LG Orsay sibling, the Renoir comes equipped with a built-in document viewer, supporting files from Word, Excel and Powerpoint. This is coupled with bags of entertainment tools, including an alarm, calender, phone book and calculator.
The phone has a mere 100MB of internal capacity, which can be expanded to a maximum of 8GB through its memory card support. This allows for storage of more contacts details, messages, pictures and video clips.
The LG Renoir is popular for its high technology features, and we were extremely impressive with its high-end 8 megapixel snapper. However, this is slightly let down with its unresponsive touchscreen, and we would have liked to have seen a 3.5mm audio jack onboard.
