A Preview of the LG Optimus Net

12th July 2011

LG's hoping to hoping to continue the success of its best-selling Optimus One with its latest budget blower, which has officially landed as the LG Optimus Net.

Just like its 2010 sibling, the Optimus Net rocks a 3.2-inch (320 x 480) touchscreen powered by an 800MHz processor. However, unlike its brother it'll land in Blighty running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, equipping the phone with a re-jigged UI and more intuitive onscreen keys.

As the newest edition of LG's Android line-up, it'll also come equipped with Optimus UI, offering one-touch access to all the usual Goodie goodies. This also dressed the handset with multiple customizable homescreens, Facebook and Twitter integration, and access to the Android Market.

Just like the Optimus One you'll find a 3 megapixel camera on the rear of the smartphone. Complete with autofocus, this is capable of capturing 680p footage at 24 frames per second, and with DLNA tech onboard you can mirror your footage on your TV. There's also a built in media player with FM radio, and up to 32GB of storage via microSD.

The Optimus Net also comes equipped with HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, which was presumably the inspiration behind its bizarre name.

Set to land any day now, LG's latest cheap Android will fetch around £175 SIM free.

A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
