LG Optimus Pro

With its 2.8-inch touchscreen and four-row QWERTY, the LG Optimus Pro is a affordable Android BlackBerry-alternative

A Preview of the LG Optimus Pro

12th July 2011

We all know by now that 'Pro' in mobile terms means a physical keypad, as demonstrated perfectly by the Samsung Galaxy Pro and Motorola Pro. It looks like LG will be next to jump on the QWERTY keyboard bandwagon, if the leaked LG Optimus Pro is anything to go by.

According to leaked specifications, the so-called Optimus Pro will be the first of LG's handsets to run Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) - with the Optimus 2X still lagging behind with Android 2.2. This means the business-focussed smartphone will come with an enhanced user interface, one-touch word selection copy and paste, and all the usual pre-loaded goodies (Google Search, Talk Maps).

These can be accessed through its 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen, will will no doubt come dressed in LG's Optimus UI. You'll also find a 3 megapixel rear-facing camera (without flash), a built-in media player with FM radio, and a 1500mAh battery. It's also rumoured to come with WiFi connectivity - although there's currently no mention of HSDPA speeds.

The handset's pricing is still to be confirmed, although it's likely to fetch around £150 SIM free.

A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
