The LG Cookie Lite is a pint-sized touchscreen, delivering a fun, curvy design and a plethora of social networking features.
Editor's Review of the Cookie Lite
The LG Cookie Lite T300 is the successor to LG's popular Cookie handset. The Cookie Lite is simply a miniature version with a smaller touchscreen, although it also comes equipped with some more basic features, proving to be the perfect handset for a child or teenager.
The name 'Cookie Lite' really says it all, as this handset really is tiny. It measures in at 95.8 x 50.5 x 11.9mm, and weights just 77g, making it one of the most lightweight smartphones ever. It's also more square than most smartphones, making it sit comfortably both within your hand and in your pocket. It may be small, but the handset still rocks a 2.4 inch touchscreen complete with on-screen QWERTY keypad.
OS and Interface
The handset comes complete with a Cartoon UI, giving the phone a friendly and entertaining feel from the get go. It's also simple to customize the Cookie Lite's interface to suit it to your personal preferences, providing you with 'drag and drop' shortcuts, including calender, email and web browser.
As the Cookie Lite comes with resistive touchscreen, it does require a certain amount of pressure to work. However, once you've got the hang of the touchscreen, you'll see it is one of the most simple to use on the market. With no physical keyboard provided, all messaging is done using the handset's on-screen QWERTY keyboard, which although fiddly to use at the beginning, is easy to get used to. It can also be used both horizontally and vertically, automatically rotating as you move the handset.
If you are a clumsy texter or have large fingers you may find it better to opt for the LG Cookie KP500, which provides you with a larger touchscreen display.
Multimedia & Storage
The LG Cookie Lite may not come with the most ground-breaking entertainment features of all time, but it certainly provides you with everything you need, especially if you're part of LG's 'Generation X' target user-base.
The handset comes equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera complete with video recorder. Although photos are not of the highest quality, the camera is perfect for taking spur of the moment snaps and video clips to share with your friends.
The handset also comes equipped with a built-in MP3 player and FM radio, perfect for keeping you entertained whilst on the move. A 3.5mm audio jack is integrated into the handset too, so you can add your own headphones to provide good sound quality. With up to 4GB of memory via the microSD slot, you also have plenty of room for storing all of your music files.
LG have equipped the Cookie Lite so it comes with all the social networking tools required, although the handset itself lacks 3G and WiFi connectivity. However, for an affordable smartphone, you are still provided with a built-in web browser, e-mail support, instant messenger and social networking integration, allowing easy access to sites such as Facebook, Myspace and Twitter.
The LG Cookie Lite might not have the most amazing features, but for such an affordable price, it's astonishing how much you are provided with. This handset is cute and entertaining, and would be the perfect first-time touchscreen phone for a child or teenager.
