A Preview of the Motorola RAZR Maxx

3rd April 2012

Motorola's RAZR Maxx is an updated version of their RAZR smartphone, boasting unprecedented battery power and a slightly thicker frame as a result.

The most impressive feature of the RAZR Maxx is its 3300 mAh battery, making it 185% more powerful than its predecessor and head and shoulders above anything else on the market. The battery allows up to 21 hours of talk-time, 7 hours on non-stop internet browsing, or 15 hours of video-watching.

The colossal battery power makes the RAZR Maxx 1.9mm thicker than its predecessor, at 9mm. This by no means makes it a monster though, and it's safe to say that it's a reasonable trade-off for the amount you can squeeze out of its battery.

In terms of specs, the RAZR Maxx is identical to the original RAZR. It features a sizeable 4.3" Super AMOLED display, and runs on the Android Gingerbread platform - upgradeable to the 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. It has a powerful 8MP HD camera with 8x digital zoom, and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera with 720p HD video capture.

The RAZR Maxx features a substantial 16GB of internal memory, on top of which there is a 16GB pre-installed microSD card. This amount of storage will be more than enough for most people, and everything installed on the phone will be kept running smoothly by a powerful Dual-Core 1.2Ghz processor.

The Motorola RAZR Maxx is due for release in 'selected markets' in Europe at some point in May.

A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.

Droid RAZR HD leaked by Motorola worker?

The Motorola RAZR line has had it pretty tough. Any move the American phone giant makes seems to be dwarfed by rumours and releases of Samsung phones, and they just can’t ever seem to get it quite right with the phones themselves. The upcoming RAZR Maxx has done well to address its predecessor’s battery problem, but its semi-HD display [...]
