About The Three Network
3, also known Hutchison 3G UK or Three, is owned by Hong Kong based Hutchinson Whampoa, and launched in the UK on March 3rd 2003. They are are famous for creating the UK's first video mobile network, shortly after their launch.
3G was a new technology when the company initially launched, and 3 undertook one of the fastest 3G network rollouts in UK history and met their license regulatory requirements 3 years ahead of schedule. They have a roaming agreement with Orange, which allows users to operate on their 3G network in areas where 3's 3G coverage doesn't extend to. In 2007, 3 UK and T-Mobile signed an agreement to combine their 3G coverage, which lead to almost complete population coverage for 3G services across the UK.
In Q3 2009, Three accounted for 7% of the mobile network marketshare in the UK. In September 2010, 3 U won the Broadband Expert Mobile Broadband Award Winners 2010, for Best Overall Provider
