Samsung confirm Galaxy S Froyo update dates

October 21st, 2010

There has been a lot of confusion regarding the release date of the Android 2.2 update for Samsung Galaxy S users, and it’s finally being cleared up.

At first we reported that it would be landing this month, followed by T-Mobile coming forward to claim they wouldn’t be offering the Froyo upgrade until November. Finally, Samsung have come clean – and confirmed that the Android 2.2 update will be landing on all UK networks in November. Phew.

Samsung tweeted: “The Froyo upgrade will be available in the UK from early November and we expect all operator versions to be available by the end of November.”

The reason for the delay is still unconfirmed, although I think Samsung need have a lot of explaining to do, to a lot of angry customers.

Once the Froyo update eventually lands, the Samsung Galaxy S will be treated to Adobe Flash 10.1 support, enhanced navigation applications, improved speed and Samsung Media Hub.
