According to a report from China Economic News Service, Palm are gearing up to release 6 new webOS devices in 2011.
Foxconn Technology Co are said to have received orders from Palm to produce 5 of the upcoming devices, with Copal securing a contract to manufacturer just one unknown handset. With Todd Bradley, an Executive Vice President at HP, confirming the existence of a forthcoming webOS 2.0 tablet, we can expect this to be one of the devices that Foxconn will be supplying. All 6 devices, although currently unconfirmed, are expected to land next year.
Palm’s first webOS 2.0 device has recently been unveiled, which is imaginatively named the Palm Pre 2. This smartphone handset packs a 1GHz processor, a 3.1 inch multitouch display, a slide out QWERTY keypad, WiFi connectivity and 16GB of internal storage, and is expected to land before the year is out.
With HP having spent $1.2 billion to acquire Palm, they are obviously on a mission to make it a successful company. With this being the case, hopefully we’ll be seeing some further high-end Palm devices landing on our shelves next year.
