My Taptu launched, available on Android and iOS

November 10th, 2010

My Taptu has launched, a visual social news aggregator that’s now available to download on Android and iOS devices.

Cambridge-based company Taptu have launched the app, which they vow will combat information overload. It works in a similar way to an RSS feed, bringing all of your news into one unified stream. You simply opt for a number of streams, from topics including News, Tech and Gadgets, Sport or Social, and updates from stream each will be displayed on your screen, without the need to visit a number of different websites. You can also prioritize your streams, add bookmarks and share items with your friends via Facebook and Twitter.

The most popular streams are highlighted by Taptu, which currently includes The Daily Telegraph, Reuters UK, and er… Perez Hilton.

According to Mitch Lazar, CEO of Taptu, the app is “a clever yet simple social news aggregator that we believe our customers will return to many times a day. We set out to give our customers the one-stop-app for the latest news and views from all the best sources, including their own friends and family, and that’s exactly what we’ve achieved.”

The app is available to download for free from the Android Market and iTunes store.

Hi, this is Dianne from Taptu. Just wanted to say we've added some new features in My Taptu 1.1. Aside from general bug fixes, faster loading times, and better notification and error handling we added 3 main features:nn1. Google Reader Support: Thatu2019s right, you can now download all of your RSS feeds from Google Reader into My Taptu. The new option can be found under u201cSettingsu201d and will let you add up to 30 RSS feeds from Google Reader. Please note, if you have already added a stream to My Taptu that is in your Google Reader, this duplicate will not count toward your 30 feed limit.nn2. User Interface Improvements to Twitter Streams: As you know, weu2019ve curated the Twitter feeds of a whole host of your favorite celebrities, politicians, musicians, business gurus, models, scientist and publishers. Now when you view their stream, any article link that they share with you will be previewed in the stream itself so you can quickly see what they are tweeting about.nn3. 4G Network Support: My Taptu now works for devices (lucky enough) to be on a 4G network.nnHope you will check it out! Thx.
