Thanks to a Tweet from Mobile Review‘s Eldar Murtazin, we now know that the Motorola MOTOPAD will be the first device to launch with Android 3.0.
This Tweet certainly suggests that Google have chosen Motorola as their Honeycomb (3.0) launch partner, with Samsung looking likely to debut their imminent Gingerbread (2.3) OS.
Murtazin’s revelation also suggests that the MOTOPAD will come equipped with a 7 inch display, despite previous rumours of Motorola launching an iPad-rivaling 10 inch device. However, with Murtazin referring to a specific ’7 inch version’, it suggests a larger model could also be in the world. Sources have also been claiming that the upcoming tablet will launch with the name ‘Stingray’, so MOTOPAD may not be its official branding.
No specifications have yet been mentioned, although sources are claiming the tablet will come equipped with a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1080p HD video playback and 3G connectivity.
Although yet to be confirmed, the device is thought to be landing on Verizon in Q1 2011. This would suggest an imminent release for Honeycomb, with its Gingerbread sibling expected to launch today.
