Qualcomm unveil new Snapdragon processor

November 19th, 2010

Qualcomm have released details of their upcoming Snapdragon processor, which offers 5 times more speed and 75 percent less power consumption.

The Qualcomm MSM8960 dual-core processor not only boasts specs that seem to defy the laws of physics, it also features “built-in integrated connectivity for WLAN, GPS, Bluetooth and FM.” It will also offer 4G support, which we earlier reported won’t be coming to the UK until 2015.

The Qualcomm MSM8960 will start shipping in small quantities in Q1 2011, but is likely to feature heavily within high-end smartphones therein. With these new generation processors, 2011 looks set to be an exciting year, as features such as 1080p video capture and upgraded graphics rendering could soon become the norm.
