Dell Venue Pro delayed until January

Our favourite of the Windows Phone 7 bunch, the Dell Venue Pro, has been delayed again, and won’t start shipping until January 2011.

Reports from across the pond have revealed that the handset’s ‘Estimated Delivery’ date has been pushed back until January next year, despite Microsoft stating an original shipping date of November.

There’s no information on the reason behind the prolonged delays, although previous rumours suggest that Dell could be facing AMOLED shortages, alongside issues with the smartphone’s SIM card slot and WiFi connectivity.

This is bad news for WP7 fans, as the Dell Venue Pro is the handset within Microsoft’s line-up that shows the most promise. It rocks a slide-out QWERTY keypad, a 4.1 inch capacitive display, a 5 megapixel camera with video capture, 3G and WiFi connectivity and 8GB of internal storage.

Despite its shipping date of January 2011, the Dell Venue Pro is currently available to pre-order. If you want to be the first-in line, it is available to order on pay monthly deals with O2, Orange and Vodafone. Prices on O2 start from £27.50/month, including a free handset, 600 minutes and unlimited texts.
