Apple sued over iPhone 4 Gorilla Glass breakage

January 28th, 2011

iPhone 4A disgruntled iPhone owner has filed a class action lawsuit against Apple, over the quality of its Gorilla Glass display.

Donald LeBuhn of Los Angeles claims that Apple has failed to warn customers “that the Gorilla Glass is defective”, after the screen of his iPhone 4 reportedly shattered when dropped to the ground from three-feet. According to his claims, “Apple has failed to warn and continues to sell this product with no warning to customers that the glass housing is defective.”

Apple may have said that its Gorilla Glass casing is strong, but everybody knows that glass will break or when dropped at height onto a hard surface. However, LeBuhn says that his iPhone 3GS, which had a plastic casing and glass screen, remained intact when dropped from the same height.

It seems LeBuhn isn’t alone, as iPhone 4 owners reported 82% more damaged screens in the first 4 months compared to iPhone 3gs owners. Uh oh.
