HTC Wildfire S coming to Three UK in May

March 2nd, 2011

HTC Wildfire SThree has revealed that it won’t be stocking the HTC Wildfire S until May 2011, despite expectations for an imminent release.

Although Unlocked-Mobiles have dated the Wildfire sequel with a “March 21st” release date, Three UK has confirmed that the HTC handset won’t be landing for another 2 months. The news comes via the network’s Coming Soon page, which also pegs its Desire S sibling with an April release date.

Set to launch with a £270 SIM free price tag, the Wildfire S is the latest addition to HTC’s budget Android range. It may be affordable, but the HTC Wildfire S still packs a 600MHz processor, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, a 3.2 inch 320 x 480 LCD display, HTC Sense UI, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with flash, HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, a 1230mAh battery, and up to 32GB of storage via microSD.

Once launched, the HTC Wildfire S will also be available on pay monthly deals with Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone.

£270 for a Wildfire S. What do I get for more than double the price of an existing Wildfire?
Answer: a better screen resolution and an extra 128MB of RAM. This tells me the Wildfire S is overpriced.

    And before you ask….

I’m already running Gingerbread on my Wildfire and my CPU is overclocked to 691MHz. I repeat: the Wildfire S is overpriced at £270.
