As its name suggests, the N8-01 will be the sequel to last year’s flagship, although according to Twitter user @jonjongoco, it “Looks better than N8-00“. The supposed Symbian developer has reportedly managed to get their hands on a prototype of the upcoming handset, revealing its bumped up specifications.
Although we’re taking this rumour with a pinch of salt, the Nokia N8-01 will apparently arrive packing a dual-core 1GHz processor under the hood, replacing Nokia‘s usual ARM 11 680MHz efforts. It’s also rumoured to feature 1GB RAM, Symbian^3 OS, a qHD 960 x 540 touchscreen display, a 14 megapixel camera with Xenon flash, and a 1650mAh battery. According to the Tweets, the handset is will be landing in Q3 or Q4 2011.
That’s not all @jonjongoco revealed, as he also states that there will be no MeeGo handsets from Nokia this year, although a Windows Phone mobile is on track for a 2011 release. However, this contradicts with earlier reports in which the company’s CEO confirms that “one MeeGo device” will make it to the shelves this year, likely to be the Nokia N950.
