Amazon UK are listing both handsets, and have pegged the two smartphones with a June 26th release date, one week later than we were originally expecting. Still, according to the retailer you can grab the ChaCha for just £249.99, while the Salsa will set you back £319.99.
Announced at February’s Mobile World Congress, the HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa feature were promptly dubbed the first “official” Facebook phones. They both come equipped with the network’s features, including one-touch access to Facebook chat, your profile, news feed and a Facebook-integrated phone-book. Although similar in terms of software, the two handsets are worlds apart in terms of hardware.
The HTC ChaCha is a portrait QWERTY device, featuring a full physical keypad alongside a 2.6-inch 480 x 320 capacitive display. It also comes complete with Android 2.3 OS, a 600MHz processor, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera and a VGA videocall snapper. The HTC ChaCha on the other hand is a fully touchscreen device, doing away with the QWERTY keys in favour of a 3.4-inch 480 x 320 capacitive display. It also boasts Gingerbread OS, a 5 megapixel snapper and HSDPA and WiFi speeds.
