That’s according to phone-seller Clove, which claims that the fully-touchscreen “Facebook phone” will land in the UK as an O2 exclusive. This means that it might not be landing as soon as we’d expected, as the retailer adds that there’s “no indication as to when/if it will be available SIM-free”.
While it’s been priced at £319.99 SIM free on Amazon, there’s still no word on its pay monthly pricing. However, we’ve been in touch with O2 for further confirmation.
Predicted to be the most popular of the two, the HTC Salsa sports a fully touchscreen design, foregoing the QWERTY of its ChaCha sibling in favour of a 3.4-inch display. Besides it’s Facebook-focussed UI, it’ll arrive with Android 2.3 with HTC Sense, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, a VGA videocall snapper, HSDPA and WiFi connectivity and up to 32GB of storage.
That’s not all Clove had to reveal, as the UK retailer also confirmed that it’s expecting stock of the HTC ChaCha on June 17th, one week earlier than Amazon’s listing. Once launched, the ChaCha will also be available on subsidized deals with Orange, T-Mobile, Three and Vodafone.
Update: O2 has confirmed the good news, Tweeting: “Really excited that the HTC Salsa with its dedicated Facebook button is coming to us later this year!”
