Acer has confirmed that its Iconia Smart handset will be hitting the UK in just two weeks time, despite expectations for an April release date.
Announced at February’s Mobile World Congress, the Acer Iconia Smart was labelled “100 percent tablet, 100 percent smartphone”, rocking a Dell Streak-style 4.8-inch touchscreen with a 1024 x 480 resolution.
Although we’d been promised an April release, the handset’s now been confirmed as landing this month. Speaking to SoMobile, an Acer representative revealed that its phone/slate combo will be available in the UK from “the middle of June”. No exact release date was given, and it’s pricing is still to be confirmed.
Besides it’s mammoth-screen, the Acer Iconia Smart arrives powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS. There’s also an 8 megapixel rear-facing snapper, a 2 megapixel videocall cam, DLNA media sharing, HSDPA, WiFi nd Bluetooth, and Dolby Mobile surround sound for getting the full cinematic experience.
Although its pricing is still to be confirmed, it’s available to pre-order from superetrader.co.uk for £499.99.
