Microsoft could by Nokia mobile division in ‘a few weeks’, Eldar Murtazin is claiming, following the news of Google’s acquisition of Motorola.
Taking to Twitter, the self-styled mobile insider said: “Finally. Nokia could be sold in a few weeks. Price 27billions for the whole company. Microsoft in a hurry but want to pay much less”.
This follows the rumours from back in May, which claimed that Microsoft was planning to buy the Finnish phone-maker in a ‘multi-billion dollar buy-out’. Although both companies denied the rumours, the move would certainly make sense for Nokia – after it recently reported a mammoth €487m loss due to its flailing Symbian OS.
Lending credence to the rumour is the fact that Nokia signed a deal with Microsoft that will see Windows Phone 7 become the Finnish company’s primary smartphone OS. The first fruits of this partnership – the Nokia Sea Ray – looks set to land in the next two months.
