Following its announcement, O2 announced that it’d be selling the the Rhyme – in that exclusive plum flavour – from October 17, although the handset still isn’t available from the UK network. O2’s ‘Coming Soon’ page is still promising a release this month, although the phone’s exact availability is still TBC.
What’s more, SIM free retailer Mobile Fun has previously pegged the phone with an earlier October 7 release date, although this has since been replaced with a vague “available soon”. However, you can still pre-order the phone from the UK phone-seller, for £389.95.
On the spec-front, the HTC Rhyme is the first “official” female-only Android smartphone. Besides its purple stylish casing, the handset boasts a bunch of included accessories including; matching headphones and Bluetooth headset, a docking station, sports armband, and a ‘glowing’ charm indicator.
Buyers of the Rhyme can also look forward to a 3.7-inch touchscreen with HTC Sense 3.5, a 1GHz single-core processor, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera, integrated GPS, and HSDPA and WiFi connectivity.
We’ve been in touch with O2 and HTC for further information.
Update: We’ve heard from Clove, who said: “Despite our reports when it was first announced I don’t think stock is due with us until the new year”. However, the retailer claims that network’s are likely to get the handset sooner, although we’re still awaiting a response from O2.
