Half of all water damaged phones dropped in toilet

PhoneHalf of all phone suffering from water damage have been involved in a toilet-related accident, a new survey has today revealed.

The survey, conducted by GoodMobilePhones.co.uk, questioned 1,937 mobile users over the age of 18 across the UK. More more than a third of people questioned said that at least one of their previous handsets had suffered from water damage, with 47 percent admitting that was thanks to the toilet.

Furthermore, 21 percent said that their phone was were sent to its death a drink, and 12 percent admitted slippery fingers had caused for a mishap in the bath of shower. Washing-up bowls and washing machines accounted for 7 percent and 3 percent of incidents, respectively.

Mark Owen, founder of GoodMobilePhones.co.uk and not of Take That fame, said:”As somebody who has nearly dropped his phone into all manner of liquids, these results really make me thankful that this is something I haven’t done as yet. I can’t imagine how galling it must be to retrieve a mobile phone from a toilet bowl, so my sympathies go out to anyone who has.”

He said: ‘I know mobile phone insurance can seem like an expensive addition to a monthly phone bill, but often it can be something really worth thinking about, especially if you are prone to being a bit clumsy… smartphones can be expensive to replace.’
