Sony Xperia S hits pre-order at Expansys UK

January 13th, 2012

Sony Xperia SPotential-adopters of the Sony Xperia S can now pre-order the handset over at Expansys, ahead of the handset’s release in two months time.

It’s the higher-spec 32GB up for pre-order, although Expansys is yet to confirm its price. This means that if you decide to buy the handset now, you’ll be charged once a price is officially announced. There’s no exact release date on the phone’s holding page either, although Phones 4u has already revealed that the Xperia S will be arriving on shelves at some point in March.

Announced earlier this week at CES, the angular-styled Xperia S is Sony‘s first-ever smartphone sans Ericsson branding. It looks like the company is hoping to make a good impression too, as the handset touts an impressive 4.3-inch HD touchscreen and a powerful 1.5GHz dual-core CPU. Unfortunately this comes paired with Android 2.3, although an update to Ice Cream Sandwich has already been promised for H1 2012.

Potential adopters can also look forward to an 8 megapixel camera with Exmor R sensor and 1080p video, a front-facing camera capable of shooting 720p HD video, HSDPA and WiFi connectivity and a meaty 1730mAh battery.

Impressed? Head over to Expansys to pre-order yours now!

Update: We’ve just received word from Clove that the Xperia S will be arriving on March 5th, for the reasonable sum of £467.99.
