Nokia Asha 201 launches exclusively on Vodafone

February 8th, 2012

Nokia Asha 201The Nokia Asha 201, which made its debut at Nokia World 2011, has launched in the UK exclusively on Vodafone.

The surprising bit of news comes via Recombu, who spotted the phone on Vodafone’s website. Why surprising? Because Nokia announced that the phone would be available in “emerging markets”, with no official details of a UK release.

So, what can us Brits expect from the affordable Symbian S40 feature phone? As you can see from the official image (right), the Nokia Asha 201 sports a BlackBerry-style portrait QWERTY keypad alongside a 2.4-inch colour display. It also boasts a bunch of built-in social networking features, including Facebook, Twitter, Google Talk and Whatsapp.

Buyers of the Asha will also find up to 32GB of expandable memory, a 2 megapixel rear-facing camera and a built-in media player with FM radio. Unfortunately there’s no 3G connectivity, so you’ll have to make do with 2G speeds.

Vodafone is currently selling the Nokia Asha 201 in White for a mere £45, when bought with the usual £10 top up.
