Vodafone launches HTC Velocity: Germany’s first 4G phone

February 8th, 2012

HTC VelocityVodafone has announced its plans to bring the HTC Velocity to Germany, as the country’s debut 4G LTE smartphone.

The handset, known in the US as Vivid and in Korea as the Raider, will launch with support for 4G speeds, alongside HSPA+ connectivity up to 42.2 Mb/sec and WiFi, of course.

Our German readers can also look forward to a large 4.5-inch qHD LCD touchscreen, which’ll come dressed in Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread software and HTC‘s custom Sense user interface. Media-wise, there’s a decent 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and 1080p video, thanks to the Velocity’s dual-core processor.

Other specifications include; a 1.3 megapixel front-facing webcam, 16GB of included storage expandable to 32GB and  a 1620mAh battery.

Coomputer Woche, who managed to obtain the juicy news from Vodafone, claims that pricing and release date details are still to be confirmed.
