The Vodafone 155 has today launched as a no-frills candybar aimed at seniors, for a mere £25 on pay as you go.

Taking tips from the Doro’s PhoneEasy 410gsm, Vodafone’s new elderly-friendly smartphone touts an over-sized keypad for simple texting, complete with a handy slider on the side of the phone so no accidental ‘pocket calls’ are made. These buttons come paired with a 1.7-inch colour display, which is home to an easy to use menu system.

With the hard of hearing in mind, Vodafone has equipped the phone with with an extra-loud onboard speaker and noise-cancellation technology, and has also include an reliable long-lasting battery which promises up to 600 hours of talktime.

Most interestingly, the phone also comes equipped with an emergency ‘SOS’ alarm. “With an emergency ‘SOS’ feature, the Vodafone 155 also helps to provide peace of mind for users as well friends and family concerned about their wellbeing,” Vodafone explains.

“When the ‘SOS’ button on the back is held down for a set number of seconds, the phone emits a loud alert sound, sends out a ‘help’ text message to four designated SOS contacts, and will then automatically try to ring them via hands free.”

The Vodafone 155 is available to order from Voda’s online store now.
