Asus to build £125 Google Nexus tablet?

March 5th, 2012

ASUS tabletGoogle has reportedly chosen Asus to build its first Nexus tablet, despite previous rumours that Motorola would be manufacturing the slate.

So says IntoMobile, who  has heard that Asus will build the £125 7-inch tablet, which Google hopes will take on the Amazon Kindle Fire with its Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software and “high quality” build.

No further specs have been revealed, but with best-mates Asus onboard to build it, it could take a similar form to the Asus Transformer Prime. Previous rumours have suggested that the device will tout a 7-inch AMOLED 600 x 1024 resolution screen, which will act as a “hub” for Google to showcase its features (NFC, for example).

The yet-unnamed Google Nexus tablet is expected to make its US debut in April 2011, with no word yet on a UK release. We’ll bring you more details as soon as we get them.
