HTC Golf leaks as cheap HTC Explorer sequel

March 12th, 2012

HTC ExplorerThe HTC Golf has leaked as the company’s next entry-level smartphone, which is expected launch as the sequel to the HTC Explorer.

HTC may have its new ‘Hero Device’ strategy, which we saw earlier this month at Mobile World Congress with the launch of the HTC One X, One S and One V smartphones. However, that’s not to say the firm is abandoning the budget smartphone market, leaked details obtained by PocketNow have confirmed.

The HTC Golf, which is yet to be snapped, will reportedly tout a slightly-larger 3.5-inch screen than its Explorer sibling, alongside “a sub-gigahertz processor” and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. There’s also talk of a 3 megapixel rear-facing camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB of included storage and HSDPA connectivity.

The Golf – which will no doubt be renamed at launch – is likely to arrive in Q2 2012, although further details are still to be confirmed.
