JCB Toughphone Pro Smart hits pre-order

JCB‘s debut rugged Android smartphone, the Toughphone Pro Smart, is now up for pre-order in the UK.

That’s courtesy of SIM free retailer KingOfGadgets, who are offering the Gingerbread-powered phone for £329.99 upfront. It’s also promising that stock of the phone is due “late April”, so it should be arriving in just over a month.

The JCB ToughPhone Pro Smart, announced last week, if the firm’s first own-brand Android smartphone. Of course, it’s not your average smartphone though as it boasts IP67 certification, which means it’s resistant against dust, scratches, drops and up to 1m of water.

Measuring in at a nice-and-chunky 20.5mm-thick, the Pro Smart also features a decent 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen, alongside an 800MHz single-core processor and 256MB RAM. Other newly-confirmed specs include; a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, a video call snapper, HSDPA and WiFi speeds, up to 32GB storage and DLNA connectivity.

The Pro Smart’s launch partners, the Sitemaster 2 and Sitemaster 3G, are also up for pre-order on the site, for £139.99 and £159.99, respectively.
