Orange: Samsung Galaxy S2 ICS update coming in April

March 23rd, 2012

Samsung Galaxy S IIOrange has confirmed that it will roll-out Ice Cream Sandwich to its Samsung Galaxy S2 customers “in April”, despite rivals Three having already released the update.

Speaking to CNET an Orange spokesperson confirmed that the network will begin pushing the update out next month, adding that there’s no word yet on an official release date. This means you could be waiting anything between 7 days and 5 weeks to get your hands on Android 4.0, but we’ll bring you more details as soon as we get them.

It’s certainly an update worth waiting for, as Ice Cream Sandwich will bring a bundle of new feature to the Samsung flagship, including Android Beam NFC and Face Unlocking functionality. Other incoming tweaks include; a refined user interface, home screen folders and favorites tray, resizeable widgets, improved text input and spell-checking, visual voicemail, Face Unlock and an enhanced web browser.

O2 and T-Mobile are both remaining tight-lipped on when they plan to release Ice Cream Sandwich, saying simply that it’s “coming soon”.
