Get Free £200 Headphones with your Nokia Lumia 800 or 900

May 2nd, 2012

Nokia‘s fragile financial position means that they’re pulling out all stops in order to get people to buy their latest range of handsets. In a bid to boost sales, they’re offering Lumia owners a free pair of  headphones. These aren’t just some wax-attracting earplugs either, but a £200 Purity HD Stereo Headset by Monster.

The offer is exclusive to UK residents and will last between May 1 and May 31. It is open only to buyers of either the Lumia 800 or Lumia 900 – which is expected to be release mid-May.

While both the Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 are undeniably quality devices, there are a few reasons why people might not want to jump head-first into this deal. Both phones run on Windows Phone 7.5, and it’s still unclear whether the OS will be upgradeable to Windows Phone 8.

Windows Phone 8 will be a huge upgrade on its predecessor, featuring support for dual-core processors and also native code support, which will make it much easier for Android and iOS apps to be converted for the OS. With Nokia looking to release a new flagship device specifically for WP 8 later in the year, it might be worth resisting the allure of the beastly headphones.

What’s your source for the information that Windows Phone 8 will run Android apps? I assume you are getting confused with Windows 8 that can run Android applications using a third-party application called Bluestacks.

Apologies, and corrected. What I should’ve said was that Windows Phone 8 will have greater native code support, making it easier for Android and iOS app developers to port their apps over to WP8. Should give Windows Marketplace a much-needed boost in app numbers!
