Last week Apple pulled off a major victory in the smartphone wars when they managed to get HTC‘s ‘One’ phone range held up at US Customs over a patent infringement allegation.

At a time when HTC are selling strongly, and looking to shift as many of their flagship handsets as possible before the Galaxy S3 takes the market by storm, this came as a massive blow to the Taiwanese phone giant.

But HTC acted quickly on the issue, and edited the software on their phones so that it no longer steps on Apple’s toes. It’s as yet unclear what exactly these changes were, but it’s not thought that they’ll be particularly noticeable.

An HTC spokesperson said:

‘Some models have gone through inspection and been released to our carriers customers… We don’t have the status of each specific device model at this time, but we are working closely with Customs. We remain confident that this issue will be resolved soon.’

Prospective HTC buyers in the US needn’t despair then. The mighty One X is coming your way. Here in the UK, meanwhile, the One series has been selling strongly. Check out our deals here!
