Windows Phone gets 98% win rate in ‘Dare to Live’ Challenge

dare to live challenge nokia windows phoneSeveral weeks ago, we reported on Windows Phone teaming up with Nokia for the UK Dare to Live Challenge. The challenge saw users of rival smartphones and OS’s compete in one-on-one contests against Microsoft employees to see which phone completed the set-out tasks faster.

Those who win the challenge get £20 in cash. Those who lose get the chance to take part in various extreme activities – from bungee jumps to skydives (not a bad incentive to lose on purpose, is it?).

After several weeks of challenging smartphone owners around the UK, Windows Phone has posted that their handsets won 98% of the 18,793 contests they’ve taken part in so far.

These are pretty impressive figures, even though the contests have inevitably been just a little bit skewed in WP’s favour. The handset used by Microsoft employees for the contest was the Nokia Lumia 800, which has since been superceded by the Lumia 900 as the flagship device for  both Nokia and Windows Phone.

Nokia have stated that the contest is proof that their phone is ‘faster at the everyday stuff that people do on their smartphones.’ Hmmm, maybe.

If you want to step up to the challenge, it’s yet to take place in Nottingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol and Liverpool. You can check out the official site here.
