Since they released the formidable One X, Taiwanese phone giant HTC have kept fairly quiet in terms of new high-end devices until this week. Throughout the week, more and more has been revealed about something called the ‘HTC Vertex’, a quad-core, Tegra 3-powered tablet that’s expected to put everything else to shame.
Whether the benchmarks for a new HTC device listed on GLBenchmarks are for this tablet or for a new HTC smartphone remains a mystery. The device has been labelled the ‘evitareul’, and packs a quad-core Tegra 3 1.7GHz processor. While the timing suggests that it could be the tablet, the fact that the name isn’t related suggests that it could be something completely different. We also know that the device will use a 720p display.
The fact that separate benchmarks have been seen for the tablet (which refer to it as the ‘VertexF_PRM’ further suggest that we could be looking at two different devices. Could it be that HTC are getting ready to go on the attack again after a long period of dormancy?
