Offering great value for money within its vibrant casing, the Nokia 2220 Slide packs a 1.8 inch screen, slide-out keypad and VGA camera
Editor's Review of the 2220 Slide
The Nokia 2220 slide is a fun and fashionable handset, available in a range of teenage-friendly colours including Turqoise, Hot Pink, Graphic, Purple, Dark Blue and Warm Silver. Despite its eccentric appearance, it's a fairly compact mobile, measuring in at 97 x 47 x 15.85, with a weight of just 93.5g.
The handset offers a 1.8 inch TFT display, which supports a pixel resolution of 128 x 160 and displays 65K colours. Users who want to customize the handset can do so with its selection of pre-installed wallpapers and screensavers, alongside it's wide range of MP3 and Polyphonic ringtones. Once slid open, the handset reveals an alphanumeric keypad, perfect for typing messages at speed.
Alongside SMS, the handset also supports MMS and email, even offering a built-in email client.
It may lack in advanced features, but the handset also acts as a virtual organizer with its wide range of built-in tools. These include a phone book that can store up to 1000 contacts, a calculator, currency convertor, calculator, clock and to-do-list.
The Nokia 2220 also offers entertainment features, and to the delight of snap-happy users, it offers a VGA camera. With a 0.3 megapixel sensor the quality of images isn't fantastic, but it's great for taking quick snaps while on the move. The handset also boasts a built-in MP3 player and FM radio with RDS, with support provided for recording music straight from the radio. A set of integrated games are also provided, with further available to download from the Internetl
Although it lacks 3G and WiFi connectivity, the 2220 Slide is an Internet-ready handset, thanks to its GPRS technology and built-in web browser. It may not be the speediest of processes, but its perfect for a quick check of Facebook.
This mobile phone enables users to speak with their contacts for a maximum of 5.3 hours of talk time. With its battery fully charged, it offers a total standby time of 496 hours. This handset has an internal memory capacity of 32 Megabytes, allowing users to store their contact entries, photos and other data.
Unsatisfied users call this communication device a poor handset model because of its lack of wireless Bluetooth technology and memory card support, which are both essential for modern mobile phone users. Happy owners of the Nokia 2220 Slide, on the other hand, commend this mobile phone for its exceptional battery life. Others have also praised its slider mechanism that reportedly works smoothly. There are also users who appreciate this handset's VGA camera for taking photos of decent quality. Moreover, it is gaining admiration for its eye-catching casing colours.
