A Preview of the Nokia 3120 Classic
The Nokia 3120, as its name suggests, is a classic, easy-to-use mobile phone. However, unlike some 'dumb phones', the 3120 by no means skimps on the spec-front, boasting some of the high-end functionality that you'd expect to find on a more expensive device.
Measuring in 111 x 45 x 13mm, the Nokia 3120's compact casing will no-doubt appeal to the masses, especially given its array of different flavours; Graphite, Plum, White, Red and Chestnut Brown. Within its rounded-chassis there's a 2-inch (240 x 320) screen, paired with a nice tactile set of traditional keys and a four-way navigation button. This provides easy navigation around the Finns' simple feature phone UI, which is easy enough for those of all ages to manipulate.
If you're looking for a phone that can do more than make calls and send text messages, you'll be pleased to hear than the 3120 Classic touts a 2 megapixel rear-facing camera which manages to create reasonably-detailed snapshots, alongside a VGA front-facing snapper. There's also a built-in media player for listening to music while on-the-go, and an included FM radio. You can also expand the phone's 24MB storage to 8GB via microSD, plenty of storage for your music collection.
Those of you after a candy bar phone are no doubt looking for a decent battery life too, and you won't be disappointed with the 1000mAh juice box onboard. This promises to last for 3 and a half hours of constant talk time, and 290 hours on standby.
The Nokia 3120 Classic is more than just a basic phone, with its dual cameras, media features and 8GB storage capacity. It's lack of 3G and WiFi means it's not ideal for web addicts, but for those not fussed about checking Facebook 24/7 it's a phone unlikely to disappoint.
A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
