Editor's Review of the C2-05

The Nokia C2-05 is the latest to join the Finns' Touch and Type line-up, offering both a keyboard and a touchscreen for those on a budget.

This may be an affordable handset, but the C2-05 is a stylish piece of kit. It arrives boasting an eye-catching metallic Blue, Pink or glossy Black casing, and measures in at 99.4 x 47.8 x 16.3mm. It may not be the skinniest of handsets, but it's perfectly small enough for shoving in your pocket.

Unlike the BlackBerry Bold 9900, for example, the C2-05 touts a slide-out alphanumeric keypad, forgoing a fancy QWERTY alternative to keep its price low. Still, these tactile keys are perfect for those who find texting fiddly, and the four way navigation key offering easy navigation.

However, unlike you're usual cheap slider handset, the Nokia C2-05 pairs these keys with a 2-inch 240 x 320 touchscreen. Of course, this is of the resistive kind, but is perfect for those not used to a touchscreen, and we found it easy to tap the bright onscreen icons.

The interface is just as simple, and offers-up a list of your most used applications. Although there's no 3G or WiFi onboard, onboard widgets include Facebook and Twitter, ideal for checking your social networks when you can't reach a computer. You'll also find email, a calendar and a web browser too, although we found this far too cramped on the compact display.

Further features are few and far between, although there's a 0.3 megapixel VGA camera, an FM radio, Bluetooth, microSD memory expansion up to 32GB and a decent 850mAh battery - promising up to five hours of constant talk time.
