Samsung D900i

Editor's Review of the D900i

The Samsung D900i is practically a mid-range mobile phone that the working class and the fashion-conscious will appreciate. It is a lightweight phone that weighs only 93 grams that is specifically designed for a single hand's use. It is very convenient to be handheld, that the sliding interface can be flicked using the thumb.

Most users find Samsung D900i's appealing because of its extremely skinny and shiny features, which visual simplicity will make one wonder what it has to offer. It hides most of its keys underneath its slim sliding face. Exuding convenience, the Samsung D900i's menu or contacts features may be checked and navigated without the need to open the slide. Sending both MMS and SMS through the Samsung D900i is quite easy to familiarize. The mobile phone offers predictive text which most users find helpful

The Samsung D900i is a GSM mobile phone that is of a quadband mode. It has a USB and a Bluetooth, which may be utilized for file transfers, and a WAP Internet browser the works over GPRS and EDGE networks. The handset is built in with memory of 67 Megabytes -- enough to store between 140 and 150 photos. Slim as it may look, the Samsung D900i holds slots for the Samsung charger and earphones, as well as for an optional MicroSD memory card. The memory card expands the 64-MB memory, which is suggested to be used when the Samsung D900i is intended for music device usage.

The Samsung D900i has a 3-Megapixel camera and a 4x digi-zoom video with an added autofocus feature that helps capture pictures of quality and sharp edges, of high-colour fidelity. The Samsung' D900i has a 2-inch screen that recognises and displays over 262,000 colours, allowing crisp images to be shown. Users may edit captured photos and videos with ISO and white balance options being the conventional ones. Sepia, black-and-white and other effects may also be applied to photo and video files. The mobile phone also has the photo compressor - an Image Editor application - which allows basic settings to be altered in terms of contrast and brightness. Emoticons, frames and clip arts may also be integrated when editing captured photos. Most users have found the flash to be luminous and most useful for taking close-up photos during parties.

Samsung has also squeezed in the slim D900i the standard features of a modern mobile phone, including a music player, a voice recorder and an FM radio. The Samsung D900i supports e-AAC+, AAC+, AAC and MP3 formats. The handset allows 3 and a half hours' worth of talk time, and 240 hours of standby time.

Users appreciate the Samsung D900i's music player, which, in its simplicity, is able to produce good audio when listened to through the Samsung headphones that come in the package, and makes good range of decibels when played through the built-in speaker. Reviews have found the Samsung D900i's interface to be easy to navigate despite its tiny and almost hidden buttons. The calls, according to users, are clear.

The Samsung SGH-D900i's camera also draws good comments from its users. Although it is not as technologically advanced as other mobile phone cameras, the Samsung SGH D900i's camera is found to be quite impressive, even when shots are taken under low or artificial lights.

Naturally, with its good features come flaws. Some users have complained that the Samsung SGH-D900i's lustrous lines and shiny finish are easily and fatally scratched. Sure, the box shows a perfectly gorgeous mobile phone; but owners have lamented that the radiant finish fades only after a short duration of usage, replaced by needless layers of smudges. According to one user, the Samsung SGH-D900i looks beautiful when new, but has a problem with graceful aging.

While the call quality is excellent, the Samsung SGH-D900 does not allow volume adjustments during calls. The volume is fixed on default, which some users have found to be unfriendly to more sensitive ears. While MMS and SMS sending is a breeze, using the keypads found on the bottom row may be a bit difficult because of its raised base.

The Samsung SGH-D900i's camera allows digital zooming; expectedly, photos will become fuzzy when particularly zoomed in. Also, the camera's 4x zoom may become slow at times. The battery lasts for only three short days when lightly used and charging eats up approximately three hours - a downside that most users have found.

Reviews have found the Samsung SGH-D900i to lack personality and distinction - characteristics that embrace the current market's contemporary handsets like Nokia's various fashion mobile phones and Sony Ericsson's Walkman line. However, the business-styled mobile phone is said to be attractive enough to draw the modern crowd.

The candy d900i is a very eye catching, very girley phone but it is available in other colours, not only is it very easy to use for all different age groups but has a very good quality 3million mega pix camera. The phone has a respectble memory for storing ur pics and songs but if that isnt enough memory then there is room to fit a memory card in the phone. I know that this is one of the best phone on the market at the min for its money excellent value for money a must buy would recomend to anyone.

I've had this phone for about 6 months and it really is very user-friendly. Very few complaints but those I do have are
- camera blurs extremely easily, you need to hold it unnaturally still! But good quality pictures, good at capturing the light.
- you can't use your own sounds for text messages, only the few samsung sounds already in the phone... which are a tiny bit rubbish.

These are minor points however, and the phone is (like most Samsungs i have come across) very logically thought out, attractive and durable. I would recommend it

I really love all the features on the phone, it has been the best phone i have ever purchased so far, but with all things in life it is not 100% perfect,i have found that i have missed lots of calls because you can not hear the phone ring, i have had to change my ring tone to a loud one, so i am restricted to what tones i can have on my phone.
