A Preview of the Samsung Galaxy S Advance
The latest addition to Samsung's Galaxy range launches under the guise of the Galaxy S Advance. It does just as its name suggests too, as it's an "advanced" model of the original Galaxy S.
It may be billed as a mid-range smartphone, but the Galaxy S Advance will arrive packing a powerful 1GHz dual-core processor, improving on the single-core effort of its last-gen sibling. This will provide the power behind the phone's impressive 4-inch 480 x 800 Super AMOLED touchscreen, which Samsung claims provides the "stunning visuals" that users expect from its range of Galaxy S smartphones.
Unfortunately, the handset won't run the most up to date version of Google's OS, instead opting for Android 2.3 Gingerbread. However, this will come skinned in Samsung's popular TouchWiz UI, equipping the phone with Samsung Hubs, ChatOn Messaging, Kies Air support and Find My Mobile.
On the media-front, the Galaxy S Advance sports a decent 5 megapixel rear-facing autofocus camera with LED flash and HD video, while a 1.3 megapixel shooter sits atop the front of the handset. There's also a built-in media player with FM radio, Bluetooth, a 1500mAh battery and either 8GB or 16GB of included storage.
Exact release date details are still to be confirmed, but the phone's expected to hit shelves in Q1 2012.
