Samsung Galaxy S3 Final Preview

One of the most eagerly anticipated phones of 2012 - if not ever - has finally landed, and it's set to leave a massive impact crater on the Android landscape.

The Galaxy S3 features a Quad-core Exynos 4 1.4GHz processor, 8MP camera boosted by a huge amount of camera/image-tampering software, and a 4.8" Super AMOLED display with a 720 x 1280 HD resolution.

Samsung have gone with a more pebble-style look with the S3, moving away from their traditionally more angular phones. Coming in both black and white colours, with chrome sides, the S3 certainly is a looker (dare I say, not entirely unlike the iPhone 3G).

Running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Samsung have tweaked the OS using their TouchWiz 4.0 interface. The biggest feature here is S-Voice, the highly accurate voice recognition software which lets you talk to your phone, telling it to answer the phone, give directions, and even take photos remotely.

S-Beam fully utilises the S3's NFC capability, allowing you to send data between nearby phones at a massive rate of 300MBPs. Other stand-out Samsung features are the device-sharing AllShare Cast, PopUp Play - which lets you move video content around the screen while doing other things on your phone - and Video Hub, giving you access to a wealth of content to stream online.

The Galaxy S3 is due out at the end of May 2012, and is looking set to lock horns with the iPhone over smartphone market supremacy. It's also expected to be the fastest-selling Android phone ever released.
