A Preview of the Samsung Galaxy Y
Debuting Samsung's new naming strategy, the Galaxy Y is an entry-level handset, featuring a youngster-friendly affordable price-tag.
The compact handset, similar in appearance to the Samsung Galaxy Ace, comes powered by a reasonable 832MHz processor, coupled alongside Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). As is the norm with Samsung's Android-powered handsets, the Galaxy Y's touchscreen comes dressed in TouchWiz UI, complete with multiple customisable homescreens and all the usual Google goodies.
Aimed at Facebook-focussed teens, the phone also feature's Samsung's Social Hub, aggregating feeds from a bunch of social networks. This is paired with Swype integration, for speedily firing off messages and updates.
Other likely, but still to be confirmed specifications, include a rear-facing camera, integrated GPS, and WiFi connectivity.
Release date and pricing details for the Samsung Galaxy Y are still TBC.
