Editor's Review of the Galaxy
Seemingly customised to offer hand-carry convenience and fitting in its user's pocket, the Samsung Galaxy I7500 has a total weight 119 grams and full measurements of 115 x 56 x 11.9 millimetres. Staying true to its name, this mobile phone is clad in a faintly brushed black casing, which gives it a brilliant galactic effect. A wide 81.28-millimetre touch-sensitive display screen is one of this mobile phone's highlight, as it exhibits photos, videos, wallpapers and other graphics and images in 16 million brilliant colours on a 320 x 480 resolution. Polyphonic and MP3 ringtones give this mobile phone a more unique personality.
The Samsung Galaxy I7500 is powered by Android operating system that supports a stylish yet convenient user interface, and is complete with a distinctive menu system. It works on quad band technology, covering GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900, as well as HSDPA 900, 2100 and 1700. With its wide reach, this handset is ideal for frequent travellers, but its network coverage may be highly dependent on its user's network provider.
This slim mobile phone takes users to the World Wide Web and allows them to land on their favourite Web sites using its built-in Internet browser. Users may also access the Internet and go online in nearby WLAN hotspots through its integrated Wi-Fi support. Additionally, this mobile phone makes file sharing or data transfer possible with other compatible gadgets such as other handsets, personal computers, printers and laptops through the Micro USB support. An even more convenient connectivity option, which rids of entangled wires or cables, is the Bluetooth with A2DP selection. GPRS and EDGE technologies guarantee that file sharing and Internet access will be of speedier rates. Most notably, this handset is powered by 3G HSDPA, making it highly efficient with its multi-tasking capabilities.
The messaging services supported by this mobile phone include SMS or text and MMS or multimedia messaging. Chatting with contacts is also possible with its support for instant messaging option. Through the Internet connectivity it offers, this handset also enables its users to access their e-mails and receive or send e-mail messages without the need for a bulky computer system.
Busy users will find the Samsung Galaxy I7500 useful with its set of organiser features that offer planning and scheduling assistance. These include a phone book, an alarm clock, a calculator, a calendar, a vibration control option and a built-in GPS navigation technology that supports hassle-free calls are possible with this handset's integrated speaker phones.
This mobile phone also doubles as a handy entertainment device with its imaging features. It comes with an integrated 5-Megapixel camera complete with an auto focus feature for precise still photos, LED flash to improve dull environments and an image stabiliser that prevent blurs during photo captures. Pictures can be tweaked to utter perfection using this built-in snapping device's set of camera settings. Moreover, this camera captures memories in footages. It also plays videos in MPEG4, WMV, H263 and H264 formats.
Music listening is a breeze with the Samsung Galaxy I7500. It comes with a music player that supports MP3, WMA, RA and eAAC+ audio formats. An alternative listening experience is also offered by its FM radio support, through which users may enjoy their favourite music on their preferred radio station. Java games may also be played in this mobile phone, as well as other games that may be downloaded from the Internet.
This handset offers a galactic 8-Gigabyte internal memory for users to store their photos, videos, music files and other files. To accommodate even more data, this storage capacity may be expanded to up to 16 Gigabytes through MicroSD memory card support.
While this handset is a hit for its quality multimedia features, it is being criticised for its lacklustre design, which unhappy users find contradictory to Samsung's recognised knack for designs that usually reflect inimitable style. This mobile phone is also getting the flak for being a fingerprint magnet. On the other hand, happy users appreciate the Samsung Galaxy I7500 for its huge internal memory. They also point out that despite its slim structure, this mobile phone is packed with a galaxy of multimedia features for practical and entertainment purposes.
User Reviews
I have purchased the samsung galaxy, but the battery drives me insane. I am lucky if it lasts a day and a half and this is when it is on the 2G network, if I use 3G I am lucky if it lasts for a day. This is without any usage as well, I tested the battery by purposefully by not using it and ended up sending it back, but my replacement lasts for the same amount of time. :-(
